Quick answer

Any M-series Mac can use LTX only if it has enough unified memory. At 16 GB, Kynd supports the compact LTX 2.3 int4 build at 512×320 — and from the next update, LTX 2.5's one-stage tiers via the streamed engine at a measured 13.3 GB peak (experimental). The resident LTX 2.5 route starts at 32 GB; 48 GB adds its 768×512 quality tier.

For local video, running out of unified memory is not a gentle slowdown. Metal can abort the render. That is why Kynd gates every tier above its measured peak.

Kynd also recognises the full LTX 2.3 bf16 build. It is a much larger 106 GB download and needs at least 32 GB RAM, with 48 GB required for its largest exposed tier. Kynd’s automatic choice prefers LTX 2.5 on 32 GB and larger Macs when the tested native runtime is installed.

Download size and resident memory are different.The LTX 2.5 pack is about 26 GB on disk, while the exposed generation tiers peak around 24–29 GB resident. You still need free disk for the download and output files, and free unified memory for macOS.

How to install and run LTX in Kynd.

  1. 01

    Start with model status

    In Kynd, ask the agent to check video_model_status. It reports the chip, unified memory, available tiers, installed runtime and complete model packs.

  2. 02

    Ask for the exact setup

    If something is missing, ask Kynd to run video_model_setup. It prints pinned commands for the runtime and only the model files Kynd needs. It does not start a surprise multi-gigabyte download.

  3. 03

    Install the recommended build

    Kynd recommends compact LTX 2.3 below 32 GB and LTX 2.5 int4 at 32 GB or above when its native runtime is available.

  4. 04

    Open Film and choose motion

    Create or open a Film board, select real generative motion, then choose Auto or an exposed quality tier. Unsupported tiers are not shown.

  5. 05

    Add a source frame when identity matters

    Image-to-video gives the model an exact starting composition. For LTX 2.5 Ingredients, attach named character, location and prop references to the shot.

  6. 06

    Render and keep the accepted take

    Kynd acquires the unified-memory lease, unloads competing chat weights, verifies the output and restores local chat after the render.

Can a 16 GB MacBook run LTX 2.5?

Yes, from the next Kynd update. The streamed low-RAM engine runs LTX 2.5's one-stage tiers — including experimental Ingredients at 768×448 — in a measured 13.3 GB peak. The compact LTX 2.3 int4 build remains the lightest option.

Does an M1 Max support LTX 2.5?

Yes when configured with at least 32 GB unified memory. At 32 GB, Kynd exposes draft, balanced and Ingredients tiers. A 48 or 64 GB M1 Max also receives the 768×512 quality tier.

Is 32 GB enough for consistent local characters?

Yes. Kynd’s experimental Ingredients tier is gated at 32 GB and uses 768×448 reference geometry, provided the patched native runtime and official Ingredients adapter are both installed.

Why not expose a higher resolution on a 64 GB Mac?

Kynd exposes combinations verified against the current model/runtime path. More spare RAM does not automatically make an untested geometry reliable.

Where can I check the upstream model and adapter?

Review the current LTX model terms before use. The Ingredients path uses the official Lightricks Ingredients adapter; Kynd’s LTX 2.5 route uses the pinned MLX Serve conversion named in its setup output.
